Cold wet weather throws dampner on strawberry season

Auckland N.Z. Jan 2009 (3)The last couple weeks have been cold, wet and generally miserable after such a promising start to spring – guess October is always there to remind us that summer isn’t quite here just yet!

The cold winds from the south have slowed the growing in the fields, and the wet and rain have meant there is little sunshine there to help the strawberries ripen up.

Colder weather now means it’ll be a few weeks before things really pick up, so hopefully this will be in time for the Labour Weekend holiday towards the end of the month.

  1. Have been loving your s/berries xMiramar NW. Best I’ve had in years…I even had some on bench for up to 5 days….they ripened but never went off!!!

If this is not your optimum product I hope I get to try them in good weather.

Only problem……..the $50 a week strawberry habit I seem to have developed.
